Endometriosis

Tissue that has gone astray You might think that everything has its fixed place in the body. And yet there are cases where the natural order gets muddled up. Take endometriosis, for example. In this disease, parts of the lining of the uterus (endometrium) start moving through the body during menstruation and settle in areas where they do not belong: for example in the ovaries or Fallopian tubes, the uterus, the bladder, the pelvic wall, the intestines, or other organs. In rare cases, even the liver or the lungs can be affected. more
